I saw the Chronicles of Narnia a few weeks ago. It was OK.
Unfortunately my enjoyment of the film was somewhat diminished as I was distracted by the controversy surrounding the Christian undertones. It's been twenty years or so since I read the book, so surely I must have forgotten all the extremely offensive, pro-Bush, Pat Robertson high-fiveing plot elements. Right? Needless to say I watched most of the movie half expecting Jesus Christ himself to jump out from behind a tree wearing a Saddam Hussein head-in-a-target t-shirt and start battling alongside the armies of Good.
Turns out it is just as I remembered it, a pretty straightforward tale of good vs evil. Sure the whole "son of Adam", "daughter of Eve" thing is a little weird, but I found it much less distracting than the bad acting. Besides who cares if one fictional story references another, certainly not me!
In a classic reactionary blunder the critics of Narnia are unable to see the forest through the trees. The true moral of the story has nothing to do with Christianity, George Bush, or the Religious Right. Plain and simple, it is this: NEVER EVER under ANY circumstances trust a blonde white chick with dreadlocks! That is some truly good advice I could have used as a young man before heading off to art school.

I agree, white people with dreads, bad idea jeans. Not that I have seen the movie, strictly a fashion-hippie context.
