Yvon Chouinard book released today
I am really excited about this book. Anyone familiar with me, or more specifically with my wardrobe knows of my love of patagonia. If ten years ago you had told me I would be running my own business today, I would probably not have been very happy. It wasn't until discovering people like Yvon Chouinard, Paul Hawken, and Daniel Knapp that I realized a business doesn't have to be lame.
Yvon Chouinard is a real breath of fresh air in the current American corporate climate, I hope a lot of enterprising youngsters read this book.
From the Amazon editorial review:
How many other heads of multi-million dollar enterprises open their memoirs by stating bluntly, "The Lee Iacoccas, Donald Trumps, and Jack Welches of the business world are heroes to no one except other businessmen with similar values. I wanted to be a fur trapper when I grew up." The proverbial mold from which Chouinard was cast got broken.
It will be tough to top A Short History of Nearly Everything that I am reading now, I can't even describe how good it is.
Also in more book news The Singularity Is Near : When Humans Transcend Biology, the new book by Ray Kurzweil is also out. Since I am finally able to sleep through the night after reading The Age of Spiritual Machines : When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence I guess its about time to dive into the sequel.
